On the 8th of August, MH Baloyi Secondary School teamed up with Columba Leadership Academy, SITO, and DITALENTE PRODUCTIONS to host an incredible Boys Matter march. Drawing inspiration from the powerful women’s protests of the 1960s against the dompass laws, this event was all about rallying together for a cause that often flies under the radar, supporting and uplifting our young boys.
The march kicked off with energy and enthusiasm from the school yard at MH Baloyi Secondary School, making its way to Laote Police Station, then to Vuma Fourway Stop, and finally back to the school. But this wasn’t just any march, it was a bold statement that boys’ issues deserve attention, too. It was a day for these young men to step up, speak out, and connect with others who understand their unique challenges.
Once the march wrapped up, the boys returned to the school for a day of inspiration, motivation and fun of course. Experts from all walks of life took the stage to share their wisdom on what it means to be a boy, father, and a responsible man. They spoke about various topics, everything from self-esteem to mental and physical health, relationships, and even financial literacy. The goal you might ask? To equip these boys with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate life with confidence and purpose.
And let’s not forget the amazing guests and sponsors who made it all happen. A HUGE thank you to everyone who took the time to join us, share their expertise, and support this cause. Your involvement turned a good idea into a great event, one that will leave a lasting impact on these young boys as they grow into strong, responsible men. We couldn’t have done it without you!
